Maren Talbot runs a small orchid nursery in Buckinghamshire and her talk – Growing Orchids at Home - introduced the non-expert to the world of orchids and to demonstrate how to look after the most popular types. She showed us some stunning pictures of some of the thousands of orchids to be found around the world.
This was followed by a potting demonstration – members had been asked to bring in their plants for re-potting – while discussing all the important aspects of cultivation such as: watering and feeding, where to place them, pruning and staking, pests and diseases etc.
Maren emailed saying: “What a lovely society you have, such a friendly bunch. I had a really good time with your members, they were so keen and asked all the relevant questions. I hope they feel more confident about dealing with their plants now.”
