Fun and Games at the Flower Show.

CGS had what seemed to be a very successful day at the Village Fair and Flower Show on Saturday with plenty of plants to sell thanks to the generosity of members.

After a wet start that delayed visitors generally, the Rec soon filled up when the sun came out. Interest in our stand had a significant boost this year from our “Paint and Plant a Pot” event for children. Generously sponsored by Woodlark Nurseries of Hersham, over 30 children, from 2 to 15, decorated real terracotta pots with paint sticks and then filled them with bedding plants, all for a modest £3. The children had great fun and parents clearly appreciated the “hands on” activity with plants and compost, with a number of them signing up for membership. This looks like becoming an annual event, sponsors permitting

Our CGS and CAHA members also entered a great selection of Fruit and veg into the prizes. Check out a few entries and winners below! Please do send us your pictures if you would also like to be featured in the gallery.
