Claygate Flower and Village Show

Claygate Gardening Society had another good year at the Claygate Flower and Village Show. Although it did not seem as busy as last year, we signed up 15 new members and sold a lot of home grown plants to happy customers. Thanks to those members who delivered their contributions for sale. Children enjoyed themselves painting and planting pots with both pots and plants again sponsored by Woodlark Nurseries, Hersham. Thank you Woodlark!

Thanks also to those members who set up, ran and dismantled our stand. Great fun was had by everyone and a very useful amount of money was raised to keep us solvent and providing the services our members expect of us.

CGS members did very well with their submissions in the Exhibition Tent. Simon Marsh won an astonishing seven cups including the Bamford Challenge Cup for Best Overall Allotment in the Village. Other cup winners included Kim Gilbert who won the Jack Gale Memorial Trophy for Best Allotment at Telegraph Lane, former CGS Secretary Marie Barltrop who won four cups including the Nash Challenge Cup for Best Allotment at Vale Road, Committee Member Mark Sugden (three cups), Peter Tozer (two cups) and Rich Ingram (one cup). In addition to the silverware, prize money was awarded for many entries. Well done to all winners for a lot of hard work and a very high standard of produce.
